For INSTALL:WeHo 2013 “Good Queer,” artist Molly Larkey will produce a site-specific mural at the ONE Archives Gallery & Museum in West Hollywood.
From the artist:
For INSTALL:WeHo 2013, I am contributing a large scale painting that traverses the front of the ONE Gallery. The mural is related to my recent drawings that explore unusual color combinations along with different textures and 3-dimensional elements.
The basis for the mural is the rainbow. In my rendition of it, the rainbow changes and multiplies into individual color schemes that travel over the front of the building. This is related to the idea of the “good queer” in that it is an expression of individual spectrums of color within the larger spectrum of the rainbow.
To me, being a “good queer” means participating in our queer community. By adding our different selves to the conversation, we help to shape the ongoing dialogue about what “queer” means.
