Collecting and Curating for Change

Join queer activist and photographer Judy Sisneros, activist Mary Lucey, historian and One Institute LGBTQ Research Fellow Emily Hobson, Metanoia curator Alexandra Juhasz, and black feminist scholar Kwanda Scott-Ford for an exhibition walk-through of Metanoia: Transformation Through AIDS Archives and Activism and a roundtable conversation. The conversation will explore the past and present issues related to prisoners’ rights, AIDS activism, and the role of curation and archival collection in creating social change. What responsibility do we have in our current moment regarding the activism of the past? How do we remember activist work done by those who have passed on? What can archival ephemera tell us about the past? About the present and the future? What are the affordances and limitations of archive-based narratives in effecting change?
