Join Bloomingdale’s and One Institute for a special evening celebrating the launch of WE ARE EVERYWHERE, an essential and empowering book from Matthew Riemer and Leighton Brown, the creators and curators of the massively popular Instagram account @lgbt_history.
Enjoy a stimulating book talk hosted by award-winning journalist, producer, and activist Ashlee Marie Preston. Learn about the authors’ inspiration behind this rich, sweeping photographic narrative history of the Queer Liberation Movement. Featuring numerous images from ONE Archives at the USC Libraries, WE ARE EVERYWHERE will be available purchase at the event.*

Ashlee Marie Preston is an award-winning media Personality, producer, and civil rights activist. She is the first trans woman to become editor-in-chief of a national publication and the first openly trans person to run for state office in California. Ashlee Marie was named one of The Root 100’s “Most Influential African Americans of 2017”, profiled as one of LOGO/NewNowNext’s 30 Most Influential LGBTQ Influencers of 2017 & 2018, PopSugar’s top 40 LGBTQ’s of 2017, and was listed on OUT Magazine’s OUT100 of 2018. In addition, she made her TED talk debut in September of 2018 and chosen as one of Coca-Cola’s “Next Generation LGBTQ Leadership” influencers of 2018.
Matthew Riemer, along with Leighton Brown, created the Instagram’s @lgbt_history. A former attorney, Matthew is a writer and lecturer living in Washington D.C.. Together with Leighton, they enjoy fighting fascists, spending time with their dog, and disrupting fundamentalists’ worldviews. We Are Everywhere is the couple’s first book.
This program is co-presented by Bloomingdale’s and the One Institute.
